Lavender turkeys (also known as self blue) only produce lavender offspring.
Blue slates look much like lavender but have a few sometimes hard to see black spots
and when breeding blue slates about 25% of the offspring will be lavender, 25% will
be a black bird with white spots and about 50% blue slates. I have only lavenders
so all offspring will also be the color of the photo.

That 'thing' that hangs down over the beak on a tom is called a 'snood'.

Lavenders are smaller than Narrs but still a neat looking turkey.

While the blue slate coloration is relitively easy to find,
the self blues are much harder to come by.

I have 4 hens and a tom in this pen so I should have plenty of eggs for sale this summer.
