Peacocks

Is there anything prettier than a peacock in full color?

I have two India Blue peahens and one black shouldered India Blue peacock. I gather the feathers shed by this handsome fellow and use them for my arts and crafts. From feather flower arrangements to adorning my spinning wheel with decoupaged feathers, there's always a use for them.

Peafowl eggs take 28 days to incubate.

The peacock doesn't grow the classic eye feathers until he sheds his first tail feathers and grows his second set at two years of age.

Peacocks make a very loud call that can be heard for miles if he is allowed to free range and calls from a tall tree or other high perch. But if kept near the ground with flight netting on top of his pen, the sound doesn't carry nearly so far.
